SPORTS CHECK-UP at J|medical
The sports check-up is designed to identify and highlight potential issues in the athlete that may affect performance and health. It also provides targeted recommendations on preventive measures relevant to the specific case under examination, as well as guidance on training planning and performance enhancement.
What form can it take? The pathway can be standard or personalised depending on the athlete’s needs.
How does this pathway begin? The first step consists of a check-up planning consultation: a sports medicine physician carefully takes the patient’s medical history and performs an initial musculoskeletal examination with ultrasound, assessing together with the athlete which investigations may be useful in their specific case (personalised pathway). At the end of the investigations, a closing consultation is conducted by the same physician. During this stage, all feedback received from specialist colleagues is gathered and synthesised. This is a highly valuable stage for clarifying any outstanding questions and producing a personalised summary document.
How is this pathway carried out at J|medical? Thanks to a large number of highly experienced sports medicine experts and a wide range of assessments available at a single centre, the sports check-up at J|medical is used by world-class professional athletes, both during the pre-season phase and in the management of recurring issues. The most frequently requested assessments are: blood tests; nutritional consultation with personalised programme; diagnostic imaging (such as MRI or X-ray); bone densitometry for body composition analysis; cardiopulmonary exercise test with threshold measurement; strength and functional assessment tests specific to the sporting activity; competitive sports fitness examination. The selection can be defined and optimised in advance according to the individual’s specific needs.
